AACCA Services

AACCA members have a cumulative total of over one thousand three hundred years of private agency experience serving children and families. These services are provided from offices and facilities in different areas across the State of Alabama.

Services provided by member agencies include all forms and levels of foster care for children who have been severely neglected or abused and cannot live at home. Some also provide specialized forms of care for other children who are emotionally distressed, have committed juvenile offenses, or are at high risk for that. Some of our member agencies also provide in-home services to families in high-risk situations to prevent abuse and neglect from occuring in the first place or re-occuring. Some provide independent living services for older youth who are trying to successfully transition to life on their own.

Psychological/psychiatric, counseling services are a must as is working in partnership with other private and public agencies. Many AACCA agencies offer educational approaches that include prevention services to help children remain and succeed in public schools as well as accredited private school programs.

Our members are normally licensed by the Department of Human Resources, the Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, or the Department of Youth Services. Many are overseen by local Boards and answer also to local United Ways and other entities, are members of national professional associations, and are accredited in some fashion.

Professionals in AACCA member agencies carry degrees, licenses, continuing education, and good old-fashioned experience that is absolutely necessary to undertake the serious challenges facing children and families today.
